GCode lamp by Presque

The Maison Objet design show wrapped up in Paris last week and while I wasn't there this time around, hundreds of press releases in my inbox kept me up to date with what was happening. Among all the coverage and content, this little lamp by French product designer Antoine Crisias caught my eye. The lamp is 3D printed from polyactic acid (PLA), a bioplastic made from corn, sugarcane and cassava. I love the lamp's ethereal appearance given by its ribbed outer, which also diffuses and filters the light for a warm glow.

Odyssey rug series by Sally Caroline

Melbourne-based interior design studio, Sally Caroline, has uneviled a collection of luxurious rugs, the Odyssey Series, inspired by founder and director Sally Knibbs' keen observations of nature, fashion and design across some of her most-loved travel destinations.

The series launches with four designs: Marley, Albert, Saint-Marc and Monte. My favourite of the four is Marley, offering a playful take on a classic border rug, inspired by the checkered flooring of Marylebone's quintessential terrace houses. The design is hand-tufted in 100-percent New Zealand wool, and finished with checkered edging in hand-tufted silk-look nylon, creating a timeless yet spirited presence.

Teo lamb from Salvatori

Italian design house Salvatori has collaborated with Luca Nichetto for this charming table lamp. Inspired by the works of renowned architect Ieoh Ming Pei, the lamp's design features a perfect and unexpected harmony of delicate paper and solid natural stone. The lamp's design was not straight forwared, as Nichetto explains. "This project took a bit of time to achieve the desired result, which is interesting because the inspiration comes from a simple gesture: rolling a piece of paper and placing it into a marble base. Our intention was to design a sleek, elegant lamp with a high-end craft perception. Developing the right lighting source, however, took considerable time."

The final result is sculptural, playing with the reflections and quality of light.

Saltbush outdoor furniture by Tait and Country Road

This new outdoor range came out of a year-long collaboration between Melbourne furniture makers Tait and Country Road's Homewares team. The collection takes inspiration from the 1970s, when Country Road was founded, and its name references the hardy Australian native Saltbush plant, found across Australia, from coastline beaches to inland bush. The three-piece range, including a lounger, occassional table and side table, incorporates porcelain and 100% recycled boucle.

Mason rug from Armadillo

Armadillo's latest collection of five natural fibre rugs captures the timeless charm of an idyllic countryside retreat, with a stunning blend of weaves. Mason, one of the five new collections, is inspired by the rugged, expansive landscapes of mountain terrain. Handwoven from New Zealand wool, its plush texture is carefully crafted to create a boulder-like surface, giving strength and character. Available in two striking colours, Sangria and Yolk, this rich, tactile rug brings a sense of luxury and depth to any room.
