United Airlines has announced a significant capacity increase on flights between Ireland and the United States, with plans to expand services by more than 40% as part of its summer 2025 schedule.
The move reinforces United’s commitment to connecting Ireland with the Americas, offering passengers greater flexibility and convenience.
From March 29, 2025, United will double its daily services between Dublin and Washington Dulles International Airport, increasing from one to two flights per day.
Additionally, the airline will introduce Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft on its Dublin-Chicago O’Hare route, enhancing the travel experience with state-of-the-art amenities.
United already operates daily flights from Dublin to Newark Liberty International Airport, along with seasonal summer services from Shannon to Newark and Chicago O’Hare. The increased capacity will see United offering more seats from Dublin than any other US airline next summer.
Part of Broader Transatlantic Expansion
The capacity boost in Dublin aligns with United’s broader transatlantic expansion strategy.
Summer 2025 will see the launch of new routes from Newark to Bilbao, Spain, and Faro, Portugal, as well as new services from Washington Dulles to Nice, France, and Venice, Italy.
JetBlue Joins the Summer Expansion
Meanwhile, US carrier JetBlue is also expanding its European footprint.
For summer 2025, JetBlue will launch its first route to Spain, offering seasonal daily flights between Boston Logan International Airport and Madrid’s Barajas Airport from May 22 to October 24.
The airline will also introduce a daily summer service between Boston and Edinburgh, running from May 23 to October 25.
With these additions, JetBlue will serve seven European airports across six cities from its Boston hub next summer.
Current destinations include year-round services to London Heathrow and Paris Charles de Gaulle, as well as seasonal routes to Amsterdam Schiphol, Dublin, and London Gatwick.
From New York’s JFK Airport, JetBlue will operate flights to five European airports, including year-round services to Schiphol, Paris CDG, and Heathrow, alongside seasonal routes to Dublin and Edinburgh.
Expanding Transatlantic Options
With United Airlines and JetBlue both ramping up transatlantic services, travelers can look forward to more options and enhanced connectivity between Europe and the US for summer 2025.
